The Ottawa Police Service would like to announce a change of service hours for front desk services located at the 474 Elgin Street station.
Effective April 15, 2014, the Elgin Street front desk will be open 7 days a week, from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. The desk is currently open 24 hours a day but the utilization rates on the overnight hours do not justify the currently assigned staffing.
Front desk services include filing incident and motor vehicle collision reports, as well as criminal and police records checks.
An evaluation of front desk service usage for the past five years was conducted and, as a result, service hours are being re-aligned to meet the current public demand for service.
This evaluation has resulted in the redeployment of front desk service officers to other areas where they are needed in order to achieve an increased organizational and operational effectiveness and efficiency by better utilizing our resources.
