Crime Prevention Week Nov. 6-12

The Ottawa Police Service is celebrating Crime Prevention week this week from Nov 6-12th.   This year’s provincial theme is Planning Together for Safer Communities and Ottawa Police will focus on “Fraud Prevention”.

“In 2014, reported financial losses due to frauds committed in Ontario were estimated at just over $22 million,” said Ottawa Police Chief Charles Bordeleau. “This week is about education and awareness so that residents are less susceptible to fraud related crimes.”

Residents are invited to come and participate in Crime Prevention Week events in Ottawa and learn more about common frauds like identity theft, phishing and seasonal scams as well as online and telemarketing fraud.  See below for a list of activities.
