Final set of discussion papers released as part of taxi and limousine regulation and service review

 

Ottawa – Discussion papers examining customer experience and taxi economics were published on ottawa.ca today as part of the City’s comprehensive review of the taxi and limousine industries. The City is examining the current regulatory framework and service delivery to residents and visitors.

 

The City has published a total of six discussion papers on its website in recent weeks as part of the Taxi and Limousine Regulation and Service Review. Previously released papers focused on: emerging issues in the taxi and limousine industries; accessibility issues; detailed case studies of regulations in other jurisdictions; and, Ottawa’s existing hired vehicle regulations.

 

Residents are encouraged to read all the discussion papers and provide feedback using one of the following methods:

Today is the last day to register for a workshop. Registration can be done by email.

 

Residents can also subscribe to email updates that will include notification of the release of documents related to the review, as well as opportunities to participate in webinars.

 

Council approved funding for the Taxi and Limousine Regulation and Service Review as part of the City’s Strategic Initiatives. The consultant’s final report will be completed in December, and in early 2016 the Community and Protective Services Committee will consider a City staff report based on the consultant’s recommendations from the review.

The discussion papers focus on emerging issues in the taxi and limousine industries, as well as accessibility issues.

A total of six discussion papers will be released in pairs on the City’s website<http://ottawa.ca/en/city-hall/public-consultations/law/taxicab-and-limousine-regulation-and-service-review> over the coming weeks for public input. Other topics covered by the papers include: taxi economics, customer experience, detailed case studies of regulations in other jurisdictions and Ottawa’s existing hired vehicle regulations.

Ottawa – Le public est invité à lire et à commenter les deux nouveaux documents de travail publiés sur ottawa.ca<http://ottawa.ca/fr/hotel-de-ville/consultations-publiques/reglement/examen-de-la-reglementation-et-des-services-de-taxi> aujourd’hui dans le cadre de l’examen approfondi de l’industrie des services de taxi et de limousine. La Ville examine actuellement la réglementation municipale et la prestation des services aux résidents et aux visiteurs.

Les documents de travail portent sur les nouveaux enjeux de l’industrie des services de taxi et de limousine, de même que sur les questions d’accessibilité.

Un total de six documents de travail seront publiés en paires sur le site Web<http://ottawa.ca/fr/hotel-de-ville/consultations-publiques/reglement/examen-de-la-reglementation-et-des-services-de-taxi> de la Ville dans les prochaines semaines. Les documents porteront entre autres sur l’économie des taxis, l’expérience client, la réglementation d’autres villes à l’aide d’études de cas détaillées et le régime de réglementation d’Ottawa en matière de véhicules de location.

Le Conseil a approuvé le financement de l’examen de la réglementation et des services de taxi et de limousine dans le cadre des initiatives stratégiques de la Ville. Le rapport final du consultant sera déposé en décembre, et au début 2016, le Comité des services communautaires et de protection évaluera un rapport du personnel basé sur les recommandations de l’examen du consultant.
